BOLO...Third in the Santa Anita Derby has a nice pedigree and a good winning profile.

BOLO looks like another in good form given that he will be running the third race off his lay off which is a very good point of form for a horse .  I however I  like his rider..Bejerano..the best California rider right now
one to watch....especially for exotics bets

Ocho Ocho Ocho has a very very good win profile, has accumulated a nice purse so far an has an excellent pedigree.  but this horse has been badly beaten in his 2 races this year by Dortmund and Carpe Diem, as well as by Danzig Moon.

but he is running his third race back and that could mean a super effort in the KD

a Negative for OCHO to my mind is his jockey, Kent Desormeaux... always an enigmatic performer but worse now that he is aging

War Story has excellent pedigree power and a decent win profile but has been consistently beaten by International Star... 3 straight times at fair Grounds.  but Wars Story has won at Churchill Downs the same KD track on which the race is being run.  solid advantage.  War Story is a "horse for course"  and that may be enough to see him earn part of the super

Danzig Moon also has a second place in a race at Churchill's KD course.

Itsaknockout has a solid win profile and a pedigree that gives him a ton of stamina.  this horse should be able to run all day long..on grass and on the main track.. with speed too for his damside also brings speed and turf to his pedigree.

but this horse has been well beaten in all 3 of his races this year so far.  he is not getting better or rather formful... which means that he looks like an early toss.  but care must be exercised in any such decision

Far Right is a horse I do not like but he has several factors going for him one of which is not his pedigree which is not one of the top ones in the race.  Far Right has a very nice win profile and he is a 'horse for course' with a very strong foundation having raced  6 times in 2014

Far Right is also a closer, coming from well off the pace of races he runs, dependent on the sped to exhaust itself giving him the chance to pick off tiring horses on his way to the front.  there is a lot of speed in this KD and that could play well for Far Right..as well as his familiarity with the Churchill race course

Upstart was well beaten by Materiality in the slow Florida Derby and that's was not good.  maybe he bounced a bit after his come back win  in the Fountain of Youth race on Feb 21. if that is the case then Upstart can bounce back in the Derby..another piece of a tuff puzzle.

Upstart is good enough to contend with most, if not all of this crowd

same game with El Kabeir..one of the early big names in the Derby chase.  El Kabeir is also a 'horse for course' sporting a win at Churchil Downs. this horse is very familiar with the Derby course

rEVIEWS OF THE pOTENTIALS

Quote:Dortmund is a colt who seems to be able to do no wrong. He has won all six of his races, every one of them as a favorite. In his past two starts, he faced the best in the West and ran them off the racetrack with wire-to-wire wins in the San Felipe and California’s biggest prep race, the Santa Anita Derby. His Derby pedigree is also good: He is the son of the Derby winner Big Brown and trained by the three-time Derby winner Bob Baffert. The only concern is that he likes to run in front, and other speedy horses in the big Derby field may hamper that style.

so far....I like the horses I believe have the best pedigree power in the race.......

. Carpe Diem
.Materiality
.The Dubai Millenium horse Mubtaahig
.Frosted.

note: a lot of the experts calling Frosteds' name because of his dynamite pedigree.  but he does not have a winning profile.

but Frosted is 2 things:  a New York horse where he has done all his winning...at Aqueduct. and he is also a seconditis horse..a horse who loves to wait for the winner to pass him by
Frosted has 2 wins and 4 seconds in his 7 races.  the best he has been outside  of New York is a second at Gulf Stream Park in January.
nothing is impossible and the horse does have one of the best pedigrees in the race.  but with that win profile it would be a serious achievement against trends if he wins the Derby
