Human Trafficking in India

What has been identified as a social norm in one of the world's driving economies, the internal provinces of India enjoy a very skewed demographic, male children have always been favoured and with the relatively new technologies like Ultra Sound, female children are aborted before birth, today that prejudice seeks to harm the national security of India as a budding women trafficking trade is booming in the interior states, the BBC carried a news story today of a man who purchased his wife at 12 years old for less money than he spent for his cow, the woman who has 8 children by the man complains that she is abused and treated as a slave. Not much is done by the state to combat the social causes, at the root of the problem and favouring male children while aborting female ones still persists, if there is demand, then the trafficking and selling of women, will continue to persist, as desperate men will pay to find a woman.

The root cause of the problem is a disconnection from our inner Goddess.

Yea these stupid idiots kill of female fetuses because of the dowry that had to be paid by the woman's family to males when a girl was married off. Now this has caused a huge disproportion in some areas in the male/female population ratio. These dumb asses don't see what problems will come with killing off female fetuses? They don't have access to running water or electricity but they have access to a sonogram. LMAO.

FYI I am from India so its okay for me to say all of this.  8)

Just a sensitive issue for me and I get upset when I see such blatant stupidity amongst my own people.

And now trafficking women because of it ? The men in those areas should pigeon hole each other and not be allowed to breed ever.

They don't see any problems because problems isn't what they're looking for. It's all about male idolatry. And there's enough of that to make blasphemy worthwhile.

There has been human trafficking everywhere at all times. It is only recent that the media felt comfortable reporting it.

Unfortunately, most societies value boy babies over girls. In my own family there has been a big Yippee whenever a boy is born versus a girl. Yet, among all of the adult children who are there helping out our family are females. I am not talking daughters in law. I am talking about those born to the family who have a direct familial connection to our family. We have all heard that saying, "A boy is your son until he takes a wife. A daughter is yours all of her life."

There have been countless times that I have taken off from work to help out an elderly aunt. However, when I inherited something there was a big outcry as though I stole something.

Most families in India prefer a male even without the dowry. I have no idea why. Perhaps it is male idolatry. Perhaps the female gets married and moves away while the son takes care of the parents in Hindu culture so a son is preferred. This does not justify anything though and I am pretty sure % of bad sons is equal to or greater than % of bad daughters. I would like to have a daughter someday. If I have a son its fine but I would prefer to have a baby girl.
