Engineer shot dead in G/Town

An Electrical Engineer at Edward B. Beharry Group of Companies was early Sunday morning gunned down outside his Prashad Nagar home moments after exiting a car.

Neighbours, relatives and police sources said Abdool Salim,24, was shot several times as he ran away from his attackers who were on cycles.

The incident occurred on Delhi Street, Prashad Nagar, Georgetown about 4 AM.

While robbery appeared to be the motive, his cellular phone and wallet with a few hundred dollars were not taken away.

From all accounts, he coincidentally exited his vehicle at the same time the perpetrators were passing. As he attempted to flee and seek cover behind a nearby vehicle, several shots were discharged.

Salim recently graduated from the University of Guyana.

When reporters arrived on the scene, several relatives and family members were in a state of shock and anguish.

Investigators interviewed a number of them as well as a neighbor in front of whose business the man slumped and died.

Unfortunately the Guyanese people have become desensitise  to the almost daily killings in the PPP paradise.Like bharrat said he sleeps at nights and so do all the other members of the cabal.God help the people to rid themselves of this uncaring, dictatorial , theifing and selfish government.RIP Abdool Saleem.May Allah grant peace to his family and love ones.

An Electrical Engineer attached to the Edward B Beharry and Company Limited was on Sunday morning shot and killed during a robbery at his home at Delph Street, Prashad Nagar.

Dead is 24-year-old Saleem Abdool of Lot 33 Delphi Street, Prashad Nagar and formerly of Lot 32 Arberdeen Village, Essequibo Coast.

The incident reportedly took place about 04:00h. According to information received, the young man lived alone and it was while he was attempting to open his gate, he was confronted by three men on bicycles.

Guyana Times was told that the men demanded that Abdool hands over his valuables, but instead, he put up a fight.

It was during the scuffle, he was shot to the abdomen. He then ran some distance and hid behind a minibus, but the men reportedly followed him and pumped at least three more bullets into his body.

So sad.  No material possession is worth getting killed for.  In these situations it's best to just give them anything they want.  You can always replace material things, but never a human life.

Differing reports.  KN said he saw the bandits and ran away, so they shot him, but nothing was stolen.

As per his dad....his money was stolen but not his cell phone.

and I agree with you Snoops, and law enforcement officers tell you the same thing.....give them what they want.....money, watch, cell phone, jewellery.....every darn thing.

Call Chico and ask him for some sort of financial compensation for the family.
