And Sobers averaged in the 70s or 80s for several 2 and 3 year chunks of his career.

The best average by a West Indian Cricketer ....

57.78 - Sobers' average. He played 93 Tests, and has the highest average for a Windies batsman with more than 50 Test caps.

* 52.65---The highest average by a Windies batsman with more than 150 test caps ---Shivnarine Jackie Robinson Chanderpaul. Big Grin

* But Sobers played 12 tests against lowly New Zealand and averaged a huge 23.76ย  ;D

CHECK THIS:

* The great SOBERS played in 67 tests versus Australia, England and NZ and averaged 48.83

* The good SHIV has played in 74 tests versus Australia, England and NZ and has averaged 49.90

Shiv's stats vs Australia are deceptive. Like Tendulkar, Shiv cashed in on Australia after Warne and McGrath retired. Shiv's average is a low 34 vs Australia until 2007. When both retired, and Australia stopped becoming world beaters, then his average went up (right up to 80, with all games at home). He and Sars were the only ppl making runs for WI in this period though, so you cant complain.

WI 208/4
Shiv 63*

THAT 63 NOT OUT BY SHIV IS BETTER THAN A 100 OUT

* Here are the numbers.

* With that 63 NOT OUT Shiv's AVERAGE is 52.93

* But if Shiv were to make a 100 and get out his AVERAGE would be 52.86

* Since 52.93 is greater than 52.86, Shiv is better off with the 63 NOT OUT. Big Grin hahaha

* Hope Ramdin declares the WI innings overnight---the lead is 427.
