Condescension is not an attractive trait and always a sign of being unable to substantiate a position.
What batsmen in those positions achieve apropos not outs is one thing but when you keep on preaching about Shiv's precious not outs you portray him as aiming for not outs as a primary objective irrespective of the team and game.
Border and Waugh and I would like to think Tiger are not selfish.
Border and Waugh always batted for the team and if they were not out then so be it. Neither batted for personal milestones and in fact Waugh could have gone on but retired gracefully.

NICE TRY AT BEING A PHILOSOPHER MAIL.
* I am glad you now fully comprehend that NOT OUTS are an integral part of a middle order batsman's stats.
* As a big fan of Shiv, the Rev is pleased to know that Shiv now holds the WORLD RECORD for most NOT OUTS by a middle order batsman.
* And here, lemme pi$$ you off some more Mr. Philosopher Mail, Shiv has the most NOT OUT fifties and hundreds in test cricket---34 of Shiv's 93 scores over fifty have been NOT OUTS.

wait till india. you going to pull for him to bat all day

Yup, it's going to be different here in India. Shiv know how to hang aro0und in different circumstances. He will be the man to look out for.
As usual you see every thing Shiv through rose tinted colour spectacles so you cannot be objective.
You may change the font, highlight, change the colour of texts but you have not addressed my point.
You promote Shiv in such a way that not outs, his personal achievements are his primary objectives and that, for me, only serve to tarnish his achievements.
When one resorts to being patronising, they cannot further and sensibly debate the issue.

Mail:
Genuine fans of Shiv Chanderpaul would appreciate the Rev highlighting his achievements on this forum. You, of course, are not a genuine fan, and that's why it peeves you when I praise the Tiger and present his stats here. Stay peeved!
I do not need to prove to you what my intentions are as I know what they are.
Celebrating not outs is a losers game to me but I recognise your right to be an anorak in this matter.
Is that the extent to your argument, me beinga genuine fan or not? When you say Shiv has one of his beloved not outs then you paint him as selfish.....
Do you think either Border, Waugh and their respective fans celebrated their not outs?
Starts with an N and ends with an O!
In 'some' cases, what you call achievements, most will call trivia.
I have mainly heard fans of various people talking about certain seminal innings, match winning and savings situations, mentoring, good team man, coaching and charitable works but never not outs.
