You gotta be shitting me. He said that he was disappointed BUT still he accepts the decision and didn't create a fuss over it. I have no idea how that's "awful". I don't think being diplomatic entails lying through your teeth - it just means presenting the truth in a good, civil manner.

“As vice-captain of the team I will closely work with Hashim and believe we can make a good combination.” - there's nothing negative about it.
