Ireland captain Ed Joyce was delighted that his team were able to beat a "scary" West Indies team in Wednesday's first Twenty20.

The two sides are looking to fine-tune their games ahead of the upcoming World T20 tournament but it was the men from the Emerald Isle who came out on top in the first encounter, with a four-wicket success.
Having restricted the Windies to 116-8 from their 20 overs, Ireland got home with five balls to spare thanks to 32 from Andrew Poynter and an unbeaten 40 from Joyce.
The West Indies are the defending World T20 champions and possess an array of attacking batsmen but the likes of Chris Gayle (18), Marlon Samuels (16) and Dwayne Bravo (8) all failed to impress.
Alex Cusack, Kevin O'Brien and Tim Murtagh each took two wickets for Ireland while George Dockrell claimed 1-15 from four overs.
Ireland slipped to 8-2 at the start of their innings but did not panic and Joyce was pleased that his men were able to rise to the challenge.
"They are a fairly scary team to play against but we know we've got a chance to beat anyone when we play well on our day," he said.
"They have a lot of power - Chris Gayle, Dwayne Smith opening up, and Marlon Samuels. They also have the best Twenty20 bowler in the world in Sunil Narine.
"The bowlers set it up and we are all thrilled."

No Guyana = No WIN !    Tongue

So ketcmeister who from Guyana should have played and in place of whom?

Personally, Gayle, Sammy and Samuels should not have played with no match fitness after long injuries.

Samuels will have to be called again for blatant chucking.

I think you have to have balance in stats and history.

Would love SARS to make a return but he has not proved himself in my mind.

Shiv really should stay away from T20s.

We will disagree but I do not think Sarwan has done enough to return but he looked good.

In terms of Shiv for the ODIs, well he should have already been in the team.

For me I always, irrespective of which team, want the best team selected.

Sammy, Gayle and Samuels should not be in the squad as they have come back from injuries with no cricket and straight back to instant ions, Ireland or not.
