Police in Los Angeles are investigating an alleged battery incident involving rapper Kanye West.
According to a statement from the Beverly Hills Police Department, the alleged incident was reported at about 12.15pm local time on Monday.
"The named suspect was identified as Kanye West by the victim and several witnesses," the police statement added.
It was alleged to have occurred at the 8800 block of Wilshire Boulevard. West left before police arrived.
The American news website TMZ has reported West punched a man who had targeted racist comments at his partner Kim Kardashian.
A follow-up investigation is now taking place but no further information is currently available, said Beverly Hills Police Sergeant George DeMarois.
In November, West pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour charges over an altercation with a photographer in Los Angeles.
The next hearing date in the case is scheduled for 23 January.
