The West Indies have hailed the Zimbabwean hospitality they enjoyed
The West Indies have hailed the Zimbabwean hospitality they enjoyed during their two-Test battle against the Chevrons which the Calypso Kings won 1-0. The Windies won the first Test 1-0, after a sensational collapse by the hosts in the first innings, while the Chevrons showed remarkable resilience in the second Test to bat most of the day and force

Darren Sammy the face of windies is the players not CWI President
Darren Sammy has said that offering “amnesty” to West Indies cricketers who play T20 leagues around the world is no solution if they are not paid by the country’s cricket board. In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, the former West Indies skipper hit out the West Indies Cricket Board and said the team not earning a direct qualification for 2019 World
Why is there a lack of enthusiasm for West Indies Cricket
It is extremely unlikely that the average cricket fan in the West Indies has a high opinion of the cricket board. Disputes with the CWI that have threatened to disrupt tours go back to 1998 (the board was then known as the WICB) when the team threatened to abandon a tour to South Africa due to a dispute over payment. Pay disputes have resurfaced re
West Indies senior players' unwillingness, smog postpone WI tour to Pakistan

LAHORE (Dunya News) – West Indies tour to Pakistan – that was due to take place in November-December – has been postponed till next year, according to sources. Former West Indies great Michael Holding brands T20 cricket 'rubbish', 'circus'
Test cricket faces a bleak future with the sport's administrators failing to control the 'runaway weed' of the hugely popular Twenty20 format, former West Indies pace bowler Michael Holding says. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced its 2018 schedule on Tuesday and despite seven Tests being included none of them will take place in Ju
Murray: WI need to strengthen squad
Deryck Murray Former West Indies wicket-keeper and vice-captain, Deryck Murray, is contented with the 1-0 series win by the regional team in their two-Test series away to Zimbabwe. But the ex-Trinidad and Tobago player and TT Cricket Board (TTCB) president insisted that the Jason Holder-led squad will need to be bolstered with a series against New
Jason Holder stumbled across success earlier than most
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — Jason Holder stumbled across success earlier than most. He gathered his maiden Test hundred in only his fourth match and had been entrusted with the one-day captaincy by age 23, and with just 21 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) behind him. Just months later and two shy of his 24th birthday, Holder was handed the cherished
The standard of Windies Test cricket no longer exists as we once enjoyed.
by cricket commentator (cricketwindies.com)Its obvious that cricket in the region has deteriorated to the point of no return. The standard of Test cricket no longer exists as we once enjoyed. A format as leaders for over a decade plus, now lies in morbidity. We are now languishing at  bottom of the assemblage . Why  the Regional Boards an

Guyana Diaspora Forum

We have a large database of Guyanese worldwide.  Most of our readers are in the USA, Canada, and the UK.  Our Blog and Newsletter  would not only carry  articles and videos on Guyana, but also other articles on a wide range of subjects that may be of interest to our readers in over 200 countries, many of them non-Guyanese  We hope that you like our selections.

It is estimated that over one million Guyanese, when counting their dependents, live outside of Guyana.  This exceeds the population of Guyana, which is now about 750,000.  Many left early in the 50’s and 60’s while others went with the next wave in the 70’s and 80’s.  The latest wave left over the last 20 years. This outflow of Guyanese, therefore, covers some three generations. This outflow still continues today, where over 80 % of U.G. graduates now leave after graduating.  We hope this changes, and soon.

Guyanese, like most others, try to keep their culture and pass it on to their children and grandchildren.  The problem has been that many Guyanese have not looked back, or if they did it was only fleetingly.  This means that the younger generations and those who left at an early age know very little about Guyana since many have not visited the country.  Also, if they do get information about Guyana, it is usually negative and thus the cycle of non-interest is cultivated.

This Guyana Diaspora Online Forum , along with its monthly newsletter, aims at bringing Guyanese together to support positive news, increase travel and tourism in Guyana and, in general, foster the birth of a new Guyana, which has already begun notwithstanding the negative news that grabs the headlines.  As the editor and manager of the publication, I am committed to delivering Blog entries and Newsletters that are politically balanced, and focused on the positive ideas we wish to share and foster among Guyanese.
