West Indies batsman Chris Gayle arrives in Dhaka ahead of Rangpur Riders' match aginst Comilla Victorians on Saturday, 18th November.
Gayle’s T20 record speaks for itself and he will bolster the struggling Rangpur Riders, who lie in sixth position in the BPL rankings with two points . Riders have played three matches and have lost two games and won only once.
Gayle’s previous stint at the BPL saw him feature for Chittagong Vikings. Gayle is the highest century maker in the BPL with three centuries under his belt. He also scored a half century.
He has made 15 appearances in the BPL T20 matches and scored 650 at an average of 54.16 and an unbelievable strike rate of 174.95.
Gayle has previously played for three different franchises in the BPL-- Barisal Bulls, Chittagong Vikings, Dhaka Gladiators. The West Indian is the highest run scorer in T20 cricket having scored over 10,000 runs. Gayle will join forces with the big-hitting Brendon McCullum, who arrived yesterday to play for Mashrafe Bin Mortaza led Rangpur side. Gayle and McCullum are expected to form an exciting opening pair in this year’s BPL.
The Rangpur skipper had commented yesterday that both Gayle and McCullum are two of the best in T20 cricket. He also said that everything depends on how the duo start the tournament and adapt to the wickets in Bangladesh.
