(cricketwindies.com)Its obvious that cricket in the region has deteriorated to the point of no return. The standard of Test cricket no longer exists as we once enjoyed.
A format as leaders for over a decade plus, now lies in morbidity. We are now languishing at bottom of the assemblage .
Why the Regional Boards and WICB are satisfied that one or two teams are leaders in their Regional tournaments, stupefy me.
Teams must be competitive to raise the standard of Cricket in the region. If not, as in the past two decades failure looms.
We have supporters saying they are the best team in the region , yet when such players are selected to the next level, abdominal failures
are the end result. The blames lies where ? The regional cricket boards or the WICB since the players are blamed for mediocrity .
The Windward and Leeward Islands lead the group as failures . The excuse keeps repeating itself , poor pitches , lack of proper coaching ,
Geography, selectors incompetence and last problems between players and the WICB etc etc .
Shouldn't the onus be on each Board to have the best players represent them .These teams should have proper coaching and training embedded at
the U17 level .
Lets look at the present set of prospects playing India at the moment , notice the deficiencies . Players selected that can neither bat nor bowl.
We can't bat a day on wickets prepared in the Caribbean . How did these prospects get selected .
If they are the best we can produce , we are going to languish at the bottom for a while as other countries improve .
When did such a decline start ?
