GUYANA Jaguars, led by a superb unbeaten century from their skipper Leon Johnson and 84 from opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul, ended day one in a position of command against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in their fourth round clash in the Regional four-day championship.
Winning the toss and batting first in the day/night match at the Brian Lara Stadium , the Guyanese batsmen reached an impressive 245 for 2 at the close of play last night.
After losing opener Chanderpaul Hemraj for 22 with the score at 33, Johnson joined Chanderpaul and the two left-handers put together an impressive second wicket partnership of 174 , before Chanderpaul was dismissed for 84.
But Johnson was still there at the close, unbeaten on 106, which has so far come off 220 balls. His not out partner is Vishaul Singh on 22.
