Damage cased by the mole-cricket in the soil rendered it impossible to prepare turf pitches.

For forty years thereafter,  a  clay strip  was used,  over  which  matting was laid.

The final Test played on matting was in 1954 when West Indies scored 681 for 8  and  England  537

Within three months, the pitch had been removed and efforts were underway to replace :

the centre square with turf ....

wats so shocking Rev?

You know dont you. the answer is simple, self evident. everybody know.

The QPO is not home for the west indies side. you know why?

it is not home because the Indian population never treated {treats} west indian players as their own. no matter what side visited..awhite and Indo....they were treated like the real home side away from home...at the QPO

west indian players always struggle there for that reason and more.

2 more reasons...the umpiring by home umps was always suspect and penalised west indian players unduly.

and the QPO pitch suspiciously always played to the strengths of the opposition..something that Sabina had taken to do too some years in the past and recently.

yuh tink it sorf. west indies has not always home to the west indian team leh mih tell allyuh..consistently so in Trinidad. I have not been paying attention and few tests have been played their in recent years. I will be watching the pitch wen Pak arrives.

deh have any test scheduled for the QPO

Mappy:

What I find shocking is Sobers stats at Queens Park Oval.

Check this:

* Sobers played 44 tests in the Caribbean.

* He played the most number of tests(17) at Queens park oval.

* His average at Queens park was a Hooper like 35.33

* Sobers only scored 1 of his 14 hundreds in the Caribbean in Trinidad.

QUESTION:

Why did Sobers perform so poorly in Trinidad ?

In 27 tests in Guyana, Barbados and Jamaica Sobers scored 13 hundreds; in 17 tests in Trinidad Sobers only scored 1 hundred.

RE: LARA

Queens Park Oval was his home ground---he struggled there in tests---averaged only 42.86 with 2 hundreds.

RE: 3 W's & Kali

They loved the Queens park oval----Kali averaged in the 51; Weekes 97; Walcott 63 and Worrell 50.

ChristinaIt is time for a full evaluation and accountability to the people of this region for the disastrous batting performance of the West Indies Cricket Team. We cannot disregard what all of us witnessed and endured in the last three test matches. This is not about our players, administrators, or any individual; it is an entire system that is failing, and together, all of us must fix it now.
