Outstanding partnership between these two. They came together with West Indies in freefall at 89 for 6 and an early finish imminent. They've put on 107 runs and done it in quick time too. West Indies live to fight another day, though they're still trailing by 185 runs. West Indies lost 15 wickets on the day, but the last third of it has been a stirring fightback. Southee led the way at the start, but all four frontline pacers were threatening. The momentum in the game only changed when Blackwood was joined by Joseph. Both men will resume tomorrow and try to eat away at the deficit some more.

How good have Joseph and Blackwood been? Shiva tells me: "The last time before this a West Indies pair added a hundred-run stand for the seventh or lower wickets from a sub-100 score was in 1999 against Australia in Bridgetown
