Trinidad and Tobago wicketkeeper and hard-hitting batsman Nicholas Pooran is frustrated with the length of his West Indies Cricket Board-imposed suspension from regional cricket and the way the situation has been handled by the Board.

The left-hander also insisted that he always intended to take up his Leeward Islands Hurricanes contract upon his return from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 late last year. The WICB banned Pooran from playing in its regional tournaments after he signed on to play with Khulna Titans in the BPL late last year.

Pooran also revealed that he had asked the WICB for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in the BPL and it was granted. Explaining the situation last year, outgoing WICB CEO Michael Muirhead was quoted in the media, stating: “Nicholas Pooran has decided not to play for the franchise (Leeward Islands Hurricanes) that he was selected for.
