The ills afflicting West Indies cricket have been fermenting over a long period. After the golden times in the 1970s and 80s, a decline set in. This happens with every team - the low after the high. The problem with West Indies is that the decline has persisted for far too long with little to suggest that a turnaround is round the corner.

When will the players take reposnsibility for their actions!?!?! There is no way their behaviours would be deemed acceptable in any other nation across the world - see how Steve Smith responded to Glen Maxwells comments in Australia this week as an example of a group who's performance may be wavering, but see values as paramount to future success. The longer the media in the Caribbean are prepared to turn a blind eye on the cultural issues that these players bring to West Indies cricket and their unrealistic requirements, the more damage that is being done. Until the players decide to put West Indies cricket first, then the game will never be able to move forward
