The only bad thing about Shiv's departure is the manner in which he departed and the poor way in which he was unceremoniously ditched.
I see no correlation with what is happening with the entire batting of the West indies to Shiv's departure!
Part of the problem is that domestic competition does not make players as ready for International cricket as other countries do, so players take longer to get settled in.
To this end the selectors have to select a team and give them a run and that for me is a big part of the issue.
They persevere with the failure Samuels and if you wanted to have experience in the team you could do worse than have an aging Shiv in the team.
So the only argument I can make for Shiv is the continual failures of Samuels in the name of experience. You know Shiv would get stuck in and inspire the others in crease occupation and grit.
However sadly I was feeling quite sad for the way Shiv was moving at the crease a few games prior to his departure.

As long as the selectors continue to be Insular
West Indies will remain at # 8.
Simple.

Examining the list of players on the team, a number of them appear to be batting in the wrong position or just not good enough, the one century that Shane Dowrich scored against Zimbabwe in a match, the West Indies fail to win, cannot excuse his appalling glove work, he is probably the worst West Indies wicket-keeper ever in the last 20 years.

Shai has regressed and all our Bats have succumbed to short pitch and bouncers !
Check this tonight in New Zealand:
9.5
Boult to SD Hope, it's a skyer! Full on middle and he gives it another wild slog, comes off the bat's toe end !
Fourth for Boult. West Indies' hopes slowly fading away
15.3
Ferguson to Jason Mohamed, bounced him out and it's a beauty to get him !
This is a ripper of a bouncer angled in at his throat from around the stumps
he tries to drop his wrists to get out of the way but it's too late because the ball keeps coming back in
to thud into his glove and lob back to the bowler who takes a dolly.
