Given Jimmy's age, and the fact he has been more prone to injuries over the last 18 months (as is the case with most bowlers 33+), it is really encouraging to see some of the younger seamers step up. Sadly, there will come a time in the not to distant future when Jimmy hangs them up and he will need to be replaced. Those are going to be some big shoes to fill.
Woakes has been a revelation this summer, Wood is working his way back to full fitness, Ball was solid, if not spectacular on debut, Finn still has a very high ceiling if he can re-find his rhythm, and then you have some of the next generation waiting in the wings in the form of the Curran and Overton brothers, Mahmood and Harris among others.
