We should remember that life is full of ebb and flows. Most situations will not remain constant for a prolonged period, therefore, we should expect that interest will some be up or down. Maybe what is needed is new and exciting talent emerging to maintain a heightened level of interests. There is great talent in the league at present, however, the possible predictability of the level of performances may cause some fans to believe that they have seen it all, hence, there may not be anything new to look forward to at present

Is this years IPL predictable? The players change on a year to year basis which keeps things fresh, and as things currently stand, it looks as though the Knight Riders, Lions, Daredevils and Sunrisers are favourites to make the knockout stages - none of whom made the knockout stages last year. We also have two brand new franchises this year, so I am not really sure I would say that this years IPL has become predictable and there is plenty of exciting new talent playing in this years IPL including Mustafizur Rahman, Brathwaite, Buttler and Travis Head.
On top of T20 fatigue, I think one of the bigger reasons for a drop in viewership may well be explained by two big teams with the largest fan-following (CSK and Rajasthan Royals), and representing two of the bigger regions in India, are not playing this year.

IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla recently talked about the ratings dip, believing that T20 fatigue is the biggest reason:
Like every good chairman, he hyped up next years tournament which will potentially see a mega auction where all the big name players will be up for grabs:
That to me seems to be a tacit admission that this years IPL has been underwhelming and that an overhaul to the auction system can bring back some of the buzz of previous years.
