At the time of this event, one excuse/ reason given by the WICB was that previous negotiations with the WIPA resulted in an element being overstated and they wanted to get back to to a position correcting that 'error' and more.
I find it insane that some do not grasp that if you turn up to work and you have no contract, you have nothing to work to and further to have your salary cut by c.75% overnight is beyond belief.
Now it is possible the WICB needed to reduce salaries due to financial pressures, it's attempt to return to financial balance, establishment of a new wider professional system etc and all those initiatives may be necessary to sustain business but there is due process to be followed.
Firstly the CEO should ask, investigate and address why financial pressures have arisen, whether opportunities have been maximised and the best value achieved through its negotiations. Muirhead should have been instrumental in implementing a governance structure, rationalise the cumbersome structure, per Wilkins report, and make financial savings that way.
The failure of the Officers should not have such a drastic, unsupported impact on players as without the players they are nothing. At the same time this should not mean the and should hold the WICB or anyone for that matter for ransom!
Muirhead has been most conspicuous by his absence, only being wheeled out when Cameron could not be bothered or need a fall guy.
The tragic issue within this forum is the failure to look at the issues leading up to this breakdown followed by the walkout rather than focussing on personal insular feelings and the need to continually dig at a certain group of people, otherwise called victimisation.
Walkouts are not new. You will recall the strike when Lara was on his way to South Africa, scab Shiv in SL and scab Sammy the great saviour. The fact Sammy, the previous scab and anointed one, is talking out openly clearly gives a further clue in this tale.
The fact is, and sadly, the WICB have been and continue to be bullies and I remind us all, following Indiangate the team had contracts before they undertook the next series.
We have to ask ourselves, why do the WICB and its players continue to have the same unresolved issues.
What has happen has had some benefits and instead of harping on about it, solutions should be sought.

Chin, i thought you said you are a lawyer! how come you don't seem to grasp these fundamentals in contracts?
WICB cannot negotiate with anyone except WIPA. I believe your fellow Trini, Rumnarine was the one who made sure of that!!
