Another childhood hero is going to retire after the 2nd Test match. Really enjoyed all his innings, especially the triple century against India. He has rejuvenated the New Zealand side by making some really bold decisions. But looks like he wasn't making great hairstyle decisions back then.

Dear God above! I'd forgotten about Hamish Marshall and his, erm...can it even be called a style?
I know that I've got a few photographs from years gone by I don't want seeing the light of day, but compared to Marshall I look like a young Brad Pitt!

The above photo of Hamish Marshall was taken during the inaugural T20 match at Eden Park in 2005. I am not sure which is more glorious, Marshall's afro, Stephen Fleming's mustache or Daniel Vettori's goatee and side burns. In fact, checkout the entire New Zealand team and their choice of facial hair and mutton chops in that match. Just magnificent.

"[Viv Richards] was my idol growing up.
It's nice to be able to go past him but jeez, he was a cracking player, an incredible cricketer.
I'm almost a bit embarrassed to go past him, to be honest.
Hopefully he enjoyed a bit of the 'stroke-making', we'll call it."
