Who is Asad Rauf?
He made his first-class debut as an umpire in 1998, standing in his first one-day international in 2000
Officiated in his first Test match in 2005 - Bangladesh against Zimbabwe in Chittagong - before being appointed to the ICC elite panel a year later
Was withdrawn from the Champions Trophy in May 2013 after media reports that he was being investigated by police in India. A month later, he was dropped from the elite panel of umpires
In all, he stood in a total of 49 Test matches, 98 ODIs and 23 Twenty20 internationals

He was unfairly banned by the BCCI. There was not enough evidence to suggest that he was involved in any match-fixing or sharing information. BCCI avoided the statement by Sunil Dev the team manager and instead chose to go with the statement of Vindoo Dara Singh, who himself has been implicated in the IPL betting scandal.

Why not. With recent events regarding players on and off the field, match fixing scandals, inappropriate comments to the media, and threatening of strike action over contracts, it only seems fitting that the umpires, the ones who are supposed to uphold the laws and integrity of the game should start getting banned now as well.
What next for cricket? Carry on like this and the reputation of the sport will be about as low as cycling and the Tour Dr France.
