dillinger ,
I doubt any of the Tier 2 squads could have England demoted
I know in Soccer you have witnessed super squads being Relegated.
BUT those are Clubs .
Cricket is Country ..

All the discussion regarding two tiers once again reinforces my desire for a Test World Cup. It seems that this will never happen, but a guy can dream. I do believe that a tournament aspect always brings out bigger crowds.

Maybe a two tier system but not include the big series into the equation? There could be two leagues run and as the team's play each other the final position gets decided as does the promotion and relegation.
The ashes and other series that draw attention and the crowds could be run separately, maybe looked at as cup competition is in the soccer leagues?

I don't know if the ICC actually WANT to see the demise of test cricket, but it seems it's more the fans and players that are falling out of love with it and when that happens there's only so long it will be able to continue.

Getting the WICB to accede to the report and the findings is a challenge by itself and it remains unclear yet if the sub-committee can be able to help give Windies Cricket its solid footing once again.

Well that is another question that needs answering. The ICC or anybody in the world can try and help but if the WICB will actually take on-board the help or listen to external advice is an entirely different matter.
On what we've seen from the past they won't, but can they be forced to take action? If not, what's the point of the ICC in the first place if they have no power to push through what they want for the game in the future?

the ICC is a neo liberal minded expansionary bureaucracy interested only in profit and global control of its area of activity..relationships that enhance that monopolistic control it is elongating over the game..has elongated over the game of cricket.
the ICC does not operate from a sympathetic basis relative to anything far less the survival of west indies cricket. as I see it that is not their approach at all but always to make out of any situation a profit that comprises of all they want..which is profit and control essentially

The modern West Indians seem to believe in the Homer Simpson dictum: “If something is hard to do, then it’s not worth doingâ€. Test cricket is a hard grind; why not settle for the quick T20 bucks? To make matters worse, a petulant battle between the players and board has deprived the modern West Indies of any small chance of competing in Test cricket.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a card carrying follower of the ICC, but if their concern is for cricket itself or the profit it can make, either way, west Indies cricket being in the mess it is now isn't something the ICC will stand by and watch for to long I wouldn't have thought.
