According to a recent report from CricInfo,
www.espncricinfo.com/southafrica/content...0047.html?CMP=chrome
, former South African captain Graeme Smith is contemplating a comeback to international cricket.
While I believe that South Africa missed the likes of Smith and Jacques Kallis on the recent tour of India, I'm not convinced that a comeback now would be a good idea. It's a long time since Smith has played and he was very injury prone towards the end of his career. Even if he was available and playing well, I doubt he'd be selected at the age of 34 going on 35.

Whenever a player retires I think a comeback shouldn't really be contemplated to be honest. While I'm sure that Smith might challenge the squad, there's no guarantee that he'll get into it.
If he did though, that wouldn't say much for the other younger players if he can still get in there before any of them.

Great servant but he should remain in the commentary box with gratitude from the Saffer nation.

And if the ankles don't hold out, then he'll tarnish the career he's already had. While he might want to play again, if I was him I'd put the temptation to the back of my mind and go down a different path now.

For me, nothing Smith does on the field would ever tarnish his career or legacy. He is arguably one of the five greatest openers in Test history.
