One way to eliminate these types of circus catches is to push the boundary ropes back to where they were in the 70s and 80s. The World Cup final was played at the MCG where boundaries were 70 yards. I understand there needs to be a balance to include the safety aspect and incorporate the fact that crowds like to see boundaries, but we are seeing teams chase down 300+ rather too frequently these days.
