The man who offered "swagger" new importance in cricket, West Indies greatest of all time, Sir Viv Richards was the riskiest batsman. Who can out beat the Master Blaster. There are many players with greater skills, but not many had the awesome power that he had. And to play this game as a top player without head protection lets you know he was the best of the best. In the year 2000 he was voted one of the five Cricketers of the Century. Two thumbs up for Sir Viv Richards the best.

If Viv gets credit for playing without a helmet, so should the likes of Kanhai, Sobers, Walcott, and all other Test cricketers pre-1978 that played the game without a helmet. Also, Kanhai, Sobers and Walcott deserve extra credit for playing on uncovered pitches.

According to James, “I take Kanhai as the high peak of West Indian cricketing development. West Indian cricketing had reached such a stage, that a fine cricketer could be adventuresome, and Kanhai was adventuresome…People felt that it was more than a mere description of how he batted; it was something characteristic of us as cricketers. They felt that it was not only a cricketing question, because Kanhai was an East Indian, and East Indians were still somewhat looked down upon by other people in the Caribbean. But I stated that here was a cricketer who was doing things that nobody else was doing, and I was very pleased when he became the captain of the West Indies side.â€]

Blah, blah, blah. Boring! My God, you and your numbers are boring man! We are here in the forums to give our opinions, if I wanted to know the statistics and numbers of the best cricketer who emerged from the West Indies I just look in Wikipedia or something. The question obviously implies I want to hear about others opinions, so go with your numbers somewhere else.
