Guys , its NOT the Lixxxx : y'all get up to speed !
ITS the trauma of Shai Hope , Dowrich and Braff against the rampaging Mitchells and Hazelwood !
Blackwood was playing for the IPL folks to have a look in : he said that in his interview.
Lloyd was wrong in his thinking !

Yeah, that was both of our teams before the series started. I wanted Deo or Holder opening (and Ramdin dropped), with Shiv and Blackwood before the bowlers and Hope in the middle.
Lloyd, however, is fishing for a permanent opener. He gambled on Hope not failing up top and he gambled on the "seniors" being able to compensate for Shiv.

For the last 10+ years every time WI lose it's down to the selectors. The best team is always the one NOT on the field.
I doan care who WI had put out there it was always going to be a loss.

The selectors played Blackwood so IPL selectors could get a look at Blackwood? That's disturbing.
Badree didn't play in the 4 day tournament, I think. That's probably why not selected. I'd have to double check. Because they're so sporadically chosen for our test games, it's hard to know how Narine, Badree, Bishoo and Perms stand in relation to one another. My gut says Narine > Badree > Bishoo > Perms. Regardless, starting now, these guys need to be consistently picked across all formats.
I don't think Deo will ever get a chance to play for WI again. I think he should have been on the team 18 monthsish ago instead of Gayle. Lloyd and co will now deem him too old.
That was more than a loss. Those 2 tests were some kind of trans-national psycho-sexual violation. Even Paint looked resigned to death after his dismissals. He looked like he didn't care, and he usually has a very serious look on his face after getting out.

We will see. Decimations like this often have the effect of spurring batsmen, snapping them out of complacency. With West Indians though, it might push them into apathy.

I wud go for the apathetic response
thanks TD..this is exactly what I asked for. but I agree with you to an extent. west indian playrs are no good, the worst we have ever produced...and Lloyd can work with what he has and that's it. but what he has is more than he can used..and that is a consequences of wicb policy.
yet LLoyd is in a position to deal with west indies cricket like a statesman should which is what is is desperately needed at the moment. LLoyd should have been preparing to deal with shive in a statesman like manner, taking into consideration west indian needs on the field.
the team needed experience in the middle..no doubt about it. how much could shive still give at 5 and samuels at 4? what is shves vaue in holding thr batting together even if he makes 20.
how long has Lloyd known he needed an opener..who were the possibilities since he became chairman of selectors..
why would he change a winning combination.....
what can be done with Gabriel to wring out of him wicket-taking bowling...
I don't like Cottrell because of what I see are character flaws. but am I wrong..what does he really have to offer really?
what is the problem with lil Bravo..we can see clearly what is wrong with Blackwood....
Ramdin is a pain in the arse and does deserve a drop..and he is not a good captain. but he is experienced and dowrich is not. bt the time is at hand for Ramdin. if Dowrich continues to improve then I don't see why Ramdin should not be dropped..experience or no experience
but this is a time for the statesman to step forward..no the detached chairman of selectors who does his calculation as TD does here,at arms length regardless of the extenuating circumstances in his reality
look at this. Dwayne Bravo could have been of immeasurable value to this west indies team. Dwanye Bravo is still the best all rounder we have..a better bowler/batsman/fieldsman than Holder, and a better captain than both Holder and Ramdin..and he is full of experience..and he can bat at #5 or #6. and He can morph back into test cricket quickly
and one imagines all things being equal Dwayne can work with Simmons. I don't know about Lloyd skunt but with Simmons for sure.
Dwayne in the side the bowling improves immediately..and the batting too. Shive could be safely dropped but properly so. and if push came to shove it may just have been possible to solve the opening problem by asking Dwayne to reprise his original role in cricket of opening batsman

WI test cricket is dead and has been for sometime. West Indians however cannot seem to come to grips with that.
It's one thing to get "decimated" by Australia in the Caribbean. I don't think Australians were paying too much attention to what was going on so what happened probably got little attention in Australia.
However in the winter the WI will be totally and utterly humiliated - I hope smiley Dave is ready for that.
The WICB need to renegotiate now. I am quite sure the Aussies will be willing to pay a few million in compensation, money which can be spent "developing" WI cricket. Alas it might more likely line the pockets of a few at the WICB.

The future of West Indies is dead with the current generation of players we have in the region. It will not come back anytime soon until the youths in the region become passionate about the game again and that will have to be at least 20 years from now.
