Congrats to Denesh Ramdin and his West Indies team on a great 3 day victory in Barbados.
* Ramdin's first win as captain was against New Zealand in Trinidad.
* His 2nd and 3rd wins were against Bangladesh .
* This win against England is Ramdin's 4th win as captain in 11 tests.
*
Denesh Ramdin has now solidified his position as captain of the West Indies test team---he says once given the opportunity to lead the team he will gladly do so.

* 2 of the 4 wins against higher ranked test teams---New Zealand and England.
* Should Ramdin also be captain of the one day team ?

* Ramdin has demonstrated some skill.
* In Brathwaite, Hope, Bravo, Blackwood, Holder, Permaul and Bishoo ----Ramdin has a lot of talented young players to work with.

West Indies captain
Denesh Ramdin:
Barbados pitch ? It was a quite tricky one, but it turned out well for us. Batters didn't quite do as we wanted in the first innings
but young Bravo and Blackwood came out for us today. We needed to get wickets in the second innings and those five wickets
[on day two] put us in a commanding position. We played some good cricket, the bowling line-up was a good one,
we let it slip in Grenada but I'm really glad we beat them today.
[Performances from young players] Young blood, Shai Hope as well, sure he will go from strength to strength."

TEST RANKINGS
1. South Africa
2. Australia
3. Pakistan
4. England
5. New Zealand
6. Sri Lanka
7. India
8. West Indies
9. Bangladesh
10. Zimbabwe
*
Ramdin's WI team defeated #5 New Zealand in 2014 and have now defeated #4 England in 2015.
* Next series will be against #2 Australia in June 2015.
* If the WI can pull off a draw in either Dominica or Jamaica---that would be a plus.

* Good to see Ramdin achieve some success.
* With some luck in Grenada the WI could have drawn that test---and then the Barbados win would have meant a series victory.
* Oh well! No one expected the #8 ranked WI to win a test against #4 ranked England.
* By the way, didn't some ECB official refer to the West Indies as a mediocre team ?
* That a$$ must be feeling really foolish now.

decent analysis there Mail.
Greaves is a fool. you do not say those things...especially in the manner he said it. such insult works on all levels on people..conscious and unconscious to produce combative responses. if dat impse wanted to get a rise out of west indies he succeeded.
the point with Shannon Gabriel is his worth ethic, size/strength and fitness. a captain can count on him for those things, as well as whatever he develops along the way. he is the kind of pace Otis should have been encouraging all along..a group out of whom we could chose now that Roachie is a lil wasted and Taylor is getting along
as an aside and what I was saying all along is the Otis was doing and ultimately did a demolition job on young west indian pace we are now digging ourselves out of. instead of overflowing with prospects Otis dampened down the pace. he did pik Gabe and lil Jase...but there were many others he could have brought forward, encouraged and had ready to go.
but skunt Otis aside..Shai Hope was the right way to...from the first test in Grenada..not blight Smith. a way had to be found to get Darren at #4 his best position. it still has to be found..which means Samules has to go..so I was hoping Shai could be dropped into the 3 slot. another opener has to be found.
Blackwood can bat. he is an exciting prospect if an enigmatic one..always flirting with disaster. to settle down at the crease he must first give a chance or 2..and once saved he then bats splendidly. all I would seek to change in him is that 'problem' early, his propensity to early unnecessary chancy batting. but hitting the ball in the air is fine..once you clear the field or hit away from fieldsmen..where they cant get to catch the ball
