I would think that Uncle Phil would've been very astute knowing how the WICB operate when he negotiated his contract.... but he did say that he would only ever leave Ireland for WI, so for me benefit of the doubt.... still on 'honeymoon period'

On the other hand ... this WI team is just not good enough and may prove to be 'un-coachable' and pay packet may well be better than what Ottiss was getting, so this is just retirement fund.  Collect de $$ and stay at #8.  One never knows !! :-\

And that is the bottom line.

For de first time in a long long long time WI test team lose and nobody get cuss.

The selectors aint get cuss.

De coach aint get cuss.

De senior players aint get cuss.

Impossible to blame de IPL money grabbing "doan put WI first" players

De WICB aint get cuss

De captain aint get cuss

De selectors aint get cuss

anyhoo lookit here!

Delorn Johnson had been building up to a wonderful season a couple 3 years ago.  he took wickets everywhere, busting up the A team that toured the west indies.

such a build up and revelation of attacking bowling talent by a fast leftie should have marked him as the one, put into the pipeline and honed, brought along if not immediate inclusion at the top.

what happened? nothing.  Johnson was left to blow in the wind.  opportunity passed in the face of Gibson's intransigence he has drifted ever since. Johnson saw which way the wind blew and he gave up apparently.  he has been little since then

what actually happened?

Gibson pik Tino Best and Jason Holder..in the face of all Johnson had done.  Holder has never, ever, but ever come close to what Johnson achieved..before or after. that  was a premeditated  attack on west indies cricket that cost us 300k per and the development of our fast bowling/and cricket.

Tino was a waste of time for the years under Gibson. Holder is not the answer..and Johnson is no more. we need a lefty as you said but we had Johnson. now they are trying to force the absolutely incompetent Cottrell on us. :o :o :o

Cottrell is no dam good at all. but pik him if allyuh want.  di'ze wat allyuh do anyway ::yawn::

such is sick west indies cricket..an old man in the game, ready to keel to eff over.  we waste good players, promote the indefensible. we hire reprehensible administrators whose concerns are insular, nepotism and their own profits..not the west indian game.

I have seen a run of lawlessness at the wicb since 1995 that exposes the west indian elite as a sick thing.  in the persons of Hunter and now Skameron, of Gordon and Hall, and Griffith, Rosseau and Clarvis Joseph... we have a line of black west indian men as leaders, who expose us as no better than those we hold guilty for all the crime in the world.  we are the same..from the politician to the bureaucrat.

we are an awful people and the nature and quality of the society we have created demonstrates that salient fact.

nothing that we do works well..only exploits the people.  and the people don't care, don't appear to mind the total exploitation that is their lives

and we cant even play cricket anymore. that's the killer there that says all about us needed to be known..we cant play cricket anymore.

another point that flares is a player like Blackwood.. whose intent to commit suicide at the crease, every time he takes strike is so consuming it must be expressive of something really negative about him... and about west indians too.

Blackwood bats like  a true blue lunatic. the most consistent antic about his batting..doing lunatic things, entirely inconsistent with the state of the game, risking his wicket unnecessarily.  balls wide outside the off stump, over his head.. he is trying to hit just like that.  he cant leave the ball alone.  he was extremely lucky to get that ton I now realize.  but he wont get many more unless he radically transforms from the fool he appears to be into a normally ambitious and skilful youth.
