It seems half of the series Australia are involved with are touted as great cricket rivalries: Australia/England is special because of it's long history and the colony/motherland aspect of it. Australia/India and Australia/South Africa have become great rivalries, largely because of the quality of the teams involved and the rankings prospects whenever they play. Australia/New Zealand is the local derby. Australia/West Indies used to be touted as a great rivalry, but that died off with the great Windies teams.
Apart from the legendary India/Pakistan rivalry, I'm really not aware of what the great rivalries are for other countries. So, what are they... and why?

Just to bring up some real ancient history - Barbados and Guyana had a serious rivalry back in the day.

Quite funny actually..
but on a more realistic note i feel Aus vs Eng has been the greatest ever cricket rivalry, and at times Indo Pak cricket matches, they are often nail biting and involve a huge amount of rivalries.

Exactly, those nail biting finishes make up for much more than a notch up tension.Adding more fuel to it is the sledging and the contrasting relationships between the 2 countries.
