I agree. There is a different mindset between opening and batting at 3. I am never a fan of putting batsman in roles they are unfamiliar with. It is almost as if you are setting them up to fail. I would expect England to stick with Trott for the rest of the series as it seems foolish to keep yanking players in and out of the lineup but personally I would have started the series with Lyth who is a genuine opener and put up magnificent numbers for Yorkshire last year.

Well too bad his depression didn't help his cricket because he only scored 4 runs in the first two innings he has played since his return to international cricket. I hope he regains some form after the West Indies series.

If only England had an inform opening batsman that was available on this tour. At least Lyth and Rashid have been given some much needed drinks carrying practice...
I am still not sure why if England were so intent on getting Trott back into the England team they didn't at least have him open the batting on the Lions tour of South Africa. Instead, Lyth and Robson opened.

I also wish Trott all the best. It shows great character to be able to go through all that he has and still maintain a love for playing and the desire to. Depression is not an easy thing for anyone to get over nor go through even with treatment because you are always on guard.
