Thank goodness for Joe Root. He is one of the few bright rays of sunshine in English cricket right now. I am disappointed that the selectors went for Tredders over Rashid. I like Tredders a lot but he can't even get in the Kent first team and is not a real big spinner of the ball. It seems pretty clear that they don't feel as though Rashid has a future at the Test level and he was brought on this tour to be a tea caddy. A shame. I would have liked to see what he has to offer.

And Samuels is a waste of time as a 5th test bowler.
England doing the right thing - putting some good wood on Samuels.
