Why do we need Ramdin? Chanders is going soon. We need as many young people batting alongside Chanders as possible, so they can feed off his nutrients, essense and succulent nectar.
My theory is, Darren Bravo is going nowhere as a batsman because he has to bat alongside run-out king Samuels. Move Chanders to four and Darren will absorb some Shiv Juice too.
This England tour should be all about bathing youngsters in vital Shiv Juice.
Also, you also have to let these guys get bashed around at a young age. Let these young guys feel some fire, realize how unsuited they are to the international level, and then make the decision themselves to up-their game. Being burnt at a young age toughens you up, gives you drive and focus.

Ramdin
Who is the BEST keeper in the region? As far as I know that is Ramdin. I have not seen Dowrich keep recently but I have not seen any articles saying Dowrich is a better keeper than Ramdin.
Ramdin is not yet 30 years old. His batting is decent - he had a bad series against SA, as did most WI batsmen. He did not do too much against Bang in the 2 tests last year but in the 3 series prior to that he averaged 35.00, 38.40, 35.80.
In addition to all of this Ramdin is the WI test captain
Darren Bravo
I don't know why you think Bravo is going nowhere. He does have a test batting average above 40.
Over the last 15 years WI players (with some exceptions) have been bashed around and that approach has NOT produced players "suited to international cricket".
Shiv is NOT going to move to #4.

dumb statement !
W.I. need a back up keeper ready in the event of an accident /physical injury !
2 keepers on a TEST squad is better than 1 over a 3 test series ...

Lemme reiterate : Even IF benched it is always a good idea to have a back up wicketkeeper in your squad.
In Dowrich case he can also be a batsman only.
hope this is broken down enough !

The West Indies ARE NOT going to play both Ramdin and Dowrich in the starting eleven (11) for the first test.
Ramdin is the West Indies test captain and he will be also be the wicket keeper.
Get back to me if you see both Ramdin and Dowrich in the WI STARTING ELEVEN (XI)

Nope I don't know that.
I believe Dowrich is in the squad as the backup wicket keeper but if Ramdin fails to make runs the calls for Dowrich to replace Ramdin will start especially from the bajans.
I would be extremely surprised if the WI were to pick Dowrich as a batsman in the starting 11 for the first test at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium in Antigua.
I believe the BIG PUC will go with :
1. Smith
2. Kraigg
3. Bravo
4. Samuels
5. Chanderpaul
6. Hope/Johnson/Blackwood
7. Ramdin
8. Holder
9. Taylor
10. Permaul
11. Roach
I have no idea with the bowlers - numbers 8 thru 11. They could just as well go with Gabriel, Cotterell, Bishoo. Benn or whatever combination they come up with.
However given de PUC's reluctance to play 2 spinners, I expect he will go with 3 "fast" bowlers and 1 spinner.
Dunno if Simmons will have any input.
