I quite understand the need to change and not plod on but the omission of these two chaps following Indiangate still reeks of vindictiveness to me.
I question Lloyd's assessment of Russell.
He is being very inconsistent in his application of statistics and West Indies first as both Sammy and Russell have very ordinary ODI numbers. However one has to qualify Andre's relative inexperience.
Even Samuels, lauded by Lloyd, is ordinary averaging 32.85 after 162 ODIs!
The West Indies do not have outstanding players!
Also when Lloyd applies West Indies first, a principle I fully endorse, he does so inconsistently as both Darren Sammy and Russell missed the domestic competitions to compete elsewhere and yet they have been included in a World cup squad.
In justifying Sammy's selection he mentions advice giving to Holder. Where is this guy coming from?
In justifying Holder's choice as Captain, I can understand a punt, he mentions he has done enough as a Captain which is rubbish.
I agree with him there are far too many allrounders and the team needs balance but yet, included in the squad he selected, are Sammy, Holder, Carter, Russell and you can also add Simmons and Smith!
So one would expect a solid set of front line batsmen to at least 6 and the main allrounder at 7 plus the 4 bowlers and what do you have as the main batsmen?
Gayle
Smith
Bravo
Samuels
and thereafter you struggle to find a specialist batsman. Ok you may add Simmons. So what his Lloyd done to make this a very well balanced team and not filled with bit part players?
From this interview, it is expected Sammy will play so what would be the best playing 11 without all these allrounders Lloyd is referring to?
In my view Ramdin has to bat at 7 or 8.
So what is your playing 11?

I hate calling these bits and pieces players "all rounders" !
I cringed every time the great Clive Lloyd kept referring to them as...
Sammy , Pollard and Bravo are NOT : I repeat are NOT all rounders....!
25 and under average with bat and over 40 with the ball is a ShyteHound !
Clive sees Russel as a reflection of himself prowling the covers and getting the Big Cat title!
Methink he had just witnessed that outstanding run out via a football kick to stumps by Russel

10.3
Russell to du Plessis, yorker, well dug out,
they try a quick single,
Russell follows through
and aims a kick at the stumps, connects and has
got the run out!
Superb work from the bowler.
The football practise in the warm-up pays dividends for the West Indies.
Got the right boot out and a nice touch to kick the ball onto leg stump in time,
much-needed breakthrough for the tourists
Dangerous Miller run out 47

clive lloyd believes that the cricket world is stupid, that is why he has come out with this nonsense!
mere days before a major cricket event he chooses to rebuild from scratch which is the height of stupidity and disrespect to people all over the world paying big money to travel and view these games coming up. why would fans take this lying down when one of the teams [the west indies in this case] is coming to play knowing it will not win but going through the motions with an eye to the following world cup? who will cover the losses broadcaster and the venue will face when fans refuse to pay to watch a team that is in its rebuilding phase at this major competition?
clive lloyd is an angry vindictive man and it showed when he made that silly statement saying "t20 cricket has damaged west indies' cricket" when everyone knows that west indies cricket has been in the doldrums decades before the introduction of t20 cricket.
the bcci should not relent in its efforts to recover the 42mn it says it lost due to the recently abandoned series between india and the west indies and i will tell you why.
those like clive lloyd and fans who like to count players' money and who cannot refrain from sticking their noses in players' pockets will have a very good chance at showing their unconditional love and unwavering support for cricket by working for pride and for free after the the bcci toss the west indies cricket board into bankruptcy. after the board finances are dried up let us see them as well as chairman of selectors clive lloyd lobby advertising companies to endorse west indies cricket and ask them to do so because they should work for pride.
