Ha ha ha....
That is what happens when you accommodate those with loyalties elsewhere.
England and Cricket are bigger than any of us and She will survive and prosper.
However our infatuation to become the United Nations of cricket perplexes me....

Excerpts from the book will be published starting tomorrow. I am interested to read the book and get Pietersen's view of all that transpired, though I do expect there to be a fair amount of sensationalization.
It will be interesting to see if KP ever plays first-class cricket in England again. I am sure he's not too bothered as he will have money thrown at him by the IPL, CPL, Big Bash etc..

Dilly,
I know you have stayed away from the issue of who should play for England. I do not respet your stance in this matter rather, reluctantly, 'observe' your right to.
I too am interested but it does not surprise me.
It is not about establishment rather proper decorum.
Whether you like it or not, we have our cultural traits and we evolve to incorporate others but Kevin should have never played for us and we deserve all we get now....
Disloyalty.
That said i am interested to hear his perspective but I will neikthe be purchasing the papers nor the book.

I certainly respect your viewpoint, Mail and understand where you are coming from. My only question is, where do you draw the line? Do you think Morgan should never have represented England because he is Irish? Same goes for Boyd Rankin or in years gone by, Robin Smith, Allan Lamb, Graeme Hick, Andrew Strauss, Phil DeFreitas, Chris Lewis, Devon Malcolm, etc..

Dilly,
I now apprecite your response.
I am English and love my country. I was also born in Trinidad and Tobago and I love the place as we have a home, family, friend and many more connections there.
We, England, have a history and our team should reflect that. There are exception of course but my view is that to play for England, irrespective of place of birth, you should have gone through our system so you have a loyalty to us.
My example is some 16 or so months before Trott made his debut for us, at the Oval, we had played the Saffers who had beaten us and he was celebrating with them!!!!
How doe you square that peg?
NASH SHOULD NOT HAVE PLAYED FOR YOU!!!
WHERE IS HE NOW??
IS HE DEVELOPING CRICKET IN JAMAICA?
I SUSPECT NOT!!!!

That is a completely fair viewpoint and one that I don't entirely disagre with. In fact, I wouldn't be opposed to some rule that prevents players switching allegiance after a certain age. You are right about not growing up in the system and someone like Trott, as you point out, should really be considered something of a mercenary, for want of a better term, especially as he already represented South Africa at Under 19 levels.

Dilly,
Pietersen is another one who claimed his mother's ancestry because he did not like the quota system. Look a quota system can be unjust but not in the case of SA?
Both Prior and Strauss are Saffers but they went through our system.
The likes of DeFreitas, Chris Lewis etc went through our system but i am aware the West Indian identity isa strong one and they would see themselves as West Indians and not English, which is sad but players of that ilk and in acertain era may have had good reasons to feel disenchanted.
Take Davies and Ajmal Shahzad, both very bright prospects but we opted for Keiswetter and Dernbach. During apartheid we did not have as many Saffers in the UK as we now have including those without any UK ancestry!! Where are these English boys now?
So I feel resentful about that point of fleeing when the system aimed to remove their monopoly on everything.
It is our stupid 3 year qualification system which peeves me off.
And in terms of Smith, Lamby, Hick etc no they should not have played for us. In the case of DeOliveira I fully supported his selection, although he did not learn his cricket here, for the humanity and the political connotations.
Ballance and Robson both played at U19 level for Zim and Australia.
We had a Scottish Captain in Mike Denness and i can understand the proximity and historical context of the UK/ GB and Southern Ireland.
Joyce played for us and now able to play for Ireland. What I do not wish to happen is for us to harvest Ireland's best players to hinder their development.
Sorry pal but this is neither about colour nor place of birth but it is about preserving a loyalty being mindful of and a arespect for peoples' origins.

Andy Flower, the former England coach, and wicketkeeper Matt Prior have come in for the fiercest criticism in an early taste of what
Kevin Pietersen

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, the paper to which he is signed as a columnist, Pietersen said Flower built up a culture of "fear" within the dressing room and that Prior was a "bad influence".
