Russell added to WI squad for 3rd ODI

BASSETERRE, St Kitts – The West Indies Cricket Board’s Selection Panel today named the 14-man squad for the 3rd and final Dhaka Bank ODI against Bangladesh.

Allrounder Andre Russell has been added to the squad which won the opening two matches at Grenada National Stadium.

Well Russel should have been in the one day squad since match one. Don't know why the selectors are only picking him for t20s. If pollard can play odi then I don't see why Russel can't. I hope he plays tomorrow and get a chance to prove himself in odi. 

Russell isn't consistent enough and his bowling is crap. Although I guess this was the best opportunity to give him a proper series fully against BD, weird that they didn't include him earlier itself.

if the bring in Russell now it would only mess up the side.

the only logical replacement would be Edwards..Russell for Edwards..pushing Simmons up the order and pollard to #6.

if they drop one of those 4 bowlers for Russell that would be pure insanity...a return to Gibson's and Buttsy's  bull of 3 specialist bowlers and 2 bits and pieces... to lengthen the batting.

Bang has beaten west indies 3 by 2 attack every time they have faced it.  why let up on them now ::confused::

and what you need to lengthen west indies batting for?

you bat right out now with Holder in the side... and Roach and Rampaul know how to hold a bat.  and bang cant deal with west indies 4 prong of Rampaul, Roach and Holder, with Narine. why would you even think of change to the side?

only if you want to bring in Blackwood for eg..or Bonner or another young in-form young batsman. and you drop Edwards for such a replacement.

Russell's is not a good enough bowler and he is going to mess-up the rotation for the captain. right now he has himself...and he is a much better bowler than Russell..plus Simmons, Gayle and Pollard who can more than handle the 10 overs remaining

it would be a seriously stupid move to bring in Russell..no matter how much form he is in. he is a redundancy who will mess up the side

Drop Darren Bravo for Russell. I rather have a crazy cowlasher batting than someone who cannot rotate the strike, cannot take singles and has no on-side game.

I get the point about Bravo and his ODI  limitations. yet he has scored more than Edwards in this series...and he will score any day before both Edwards and Russell

Russell is Ok but we have the captain and that's enough. Dwayne is better than Russell.  we do not need 2 of those kinds of players in the side at the same time..no matter how much good form Russell is in at the moment

I would rest Big Bravo , Captain or not :

Bravo is better than both Carlos and Russell.  and there no sens for either to be in the team if Bravo is playing

Carlos is a deceiver.  he looks great and promising but he does not deliver.  and he is already past mid twenties.  did he not get dropped from his T20 team this past season ::confused::
