Horrible batting by the West Indies

The WI put together 247 runs with virtually all her batsmen striking at a rate of about 63.

In an ODI, the first three batsmen need to take you to 100 runs by the 15 over mark. Gayle and Little Bravo made a slow 50 and then got out. Either make a fast fifty and get out or go on to tripple figures carefully. This slow 50 crap is harming the entire team. Ramdin and Simmons pulled the same thing, batting slow, getting set and then getting out.

These guys just do not know how to pace a 50 over game. In an ODI game, you can allow 1 or 2 players to be a prima-donna and look for a personal good score. Everyone else's mission is to haul ass and get the team to 300.

The WI team needs to get into the habit of making 100 runs by the 15 over mark, 200 by 35-40 overs, and then cowlash last 5 to 10 overs to 300+.

Everyone is batting selfishly, with trepidation and preserving their own wicket at the cost of run rate. These guys arent even running and taking singles. Even worse, they are dot balling all the powerplays. Hell, put Narine and Roach to open and give them a license to swing.

The team mission needs to be 300+ always. Always aim for that if you want to be a world beater. Better to lose and be all out for 80 runs but have been pushing hard for 300, then to just settle for mediocrity.

I agree against such oppositions but the pitches do not lend itself to such scores.

For Windies to compete against the big 6, they have to be very convincing in all departments.

Today was emphatic despite batting hiccups but this should enforce confidence, altrhough against fellow minnows.

The IPL is a reality and we know there has to be iterations but there will always be clashes.
