Better in his second incarnation and wonderful to watch in full flow.
His straight pick up, normally for 6, could hardly be bettered.
Very fortunate to have played as many test matches as he did and for me a great disappointment overall. 35 ish average.

carl Hooper was real class. he would bat without a helmet and without any hint of discomfort against pace or spin bowling. He let himself go fitness wise in the last few years of his career but he remained a threat always. I remember him smashing india on a number of occasions with a real liking for anil kumble.
