* Homes in Guyana use less electricity than homes in the US---but here in the US---1 MW can supply the needs of 1000 homes----25 MW will supply the needs of 25K homes.
* Anyway, Amaila if ever developed is expected to produce 165 MW of electricity----and will cost nearly 1 billion.
* The Hope Beach wind warm will produce 25MW and will cost only 42 million.
* Do the math---looks like wind cheaper than hydro.
* By the way, as much as I support hydro---that Amaila falls project proposed by Sithe Global would have ripped off Guyana.

amalia was also meant to produce for northern brazil. i think a wind farm would be great for lethem to develop a major border town to the giant in the south. They have a bridge. Next a long asphalt runaway. All of this could lead to an opening and reawakening of Guyana.

* Amalia was not meant for Northern Brazil.
* Take a look at this image:

* There will be 2 sub-stations---one in Linden and the next in Georgetown----connected by the transmission lines.
RE: THE HYDRO THAT WILL BENEFIT BRAZIL
* There is a Brazillian consortium that is interested in constructing a hydro project in the Mazaruni region.
* They are planning on spending 45 million US on a prefeasibility and then feasibility studies.
* But there have been some delays in getting the studies started.
See link:
www.guyanatimesgy.com/2014/06/03/prefeas...gn-affairs-minister/
* Now, if that hydro in mazaruni ever gets developed by the Brazilians---that would be HUGE.
