The Caribbean Premier League has downplayed a controversial comment made by Jamaica Tallawahs Captain Chris Gayle to a female reporter.
Kadeem Joseph reports on the statement by the former West Indies Team Captain, which is being condemned by at least one group advocating for the respect of women.
When journalists gathered at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds for the CLP T20 news conference that was not the story they were expecting.
For all intents and purposes it was a routine question asked by a journalist who did not identify herself.
HOW DOES THE PITCH FEEL SO FAR WAS THE QUESTION? And Gayle’s Response I HAVENT TOUCHED YOURS YET SO I DON’T KNOW HOW IT FEELS.
Some in the background reminded the cricketer that he’s at a news conference and later advised him to stick to cricket. It was only then that Gayle went on to answer the question.
In response the CPL says no malice was intended and described the exchange as friendly between the player and the journalist.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Even after travelling the world all these years, and meeting all types and classes of people, Mr Gayle still has not learnt to comport himself with the dignity and sophistication required from the champion he is. He should have learnt something by now. He should be apologizing to the public, not the young lady. She obviously was star struck and could not see that Mr Gayle’s remark was inappropriate and should have been met with rebuke and not giggles.

* There is a time and place for everything.
* Gayle's response to the female reporter's question was inappropriate.
* Of course, if that reporter were in Gayle's hotel room----that's a whole different story.
