well..you know where I stand on dat:
fire Gibson and no more head coaches...restore the full authority of the captain as the man in the game. make the selection committee relevant again and select the best men for those jobs..not lackeys like Butts

I disagree with Ali and agree with MAPPIPPEE.
The key difference with Sammy in the team is that you are not selecting a man on merit and you are not selecting the best balanced team.
Ramdin is the best man for the job but he needs to be strong as I am not sue he would be afforded the same leeway as Sammy.
Another key question is, would the selectors be strong enough to get rid of Samuels and possibly Gayle?
For the coming series, they will be without Big Bravo, Kirk Edwards, possibly Roach, Samuels etc.
Having a few debuts may not be such a bad thing to commence the rebuilding process.
I spoke to someone in Trinidad a little while ago and they have heard nothing about this development.
Has the WICB confirmed this?
Also my view is that the test captain should also be the ODI captain as the latter have similar disciplines and a finishing breeding ground for future test players.
Give Bravo the T20 Captaincy.
I would have also been happy if Bravo was given the test captaincy.

well, one good move forward by WICB.
usually they would take several steps back after a good one. Lets hope this does not happen this time around!!
The only way to prevent that is to get rid of Butts and Opiss. Cause they will give Ramdin a basket of team to fetch water!

This is madness. if you compare Ramdin stats to anybody in the team its dismal. how can he possibly be captain. something smells fishy.

I do not have your worries Mail. the wicb has no problems allowing Ramdin or any captain they have room. there may be certain frictions and places where things can rub. but I have no worries otherwise.
the constriction on Ramdin would come from the coach..not the wicb. there is where you have to worry. there is overlap or powers there that will be a constant source of friction for Ramdin.
why..because he has a brain and is more of an independent factor than Sammy. Sammy was a lackey dependent for his place on the admin..not on his ability. that is not the case with Ramdin. Ramdin even if misguidedly, stood up to Viv. that's more like the man..that spirit...more-so that it is now better guided.
in fact the better that spirit is guided, mobilised and developed, the more the source of difficulty, the overlap with the coachs' power will become apparent if not a real problem.
Ramdin would do well to win out, establish himself while he eats whatever, allowing that problem to resolve itself when he has achieved heights, established himself and cant easily lose out in confrontation with the coach.
Ramdin is more like the quality of leader we used to have who would put the pointlessness of an head coach into full relief as a dam hindrance and massive and useless expense in the cricket. making sure we have quality captains we can go right back to the captain as the MAN in the game, the LEADER..consigning the head coach to the garbage bin of cricket history
Gayle and Samuels are not problems. Gayle would not be a hindrance but a help to Ramdin. Ramdin knows that and would want Gayle in his team. Samuels personally is a pain in the arse who also is no challenge or problem for Ramdin as leader..and who is likely to play himself out of the team soon.
but don't try to protect Ramdin from challenges. he has to deal with them successfully..or learn to if he cant at this point.
I think he can already deal with all he will meet as captain. we have upgraded ourselves with Ramdin as captain. he has learned a lot between 'talk nah' and now. he has demonstrated that. his attitude has become very consistent..as have his keeping and batting.
the best man got the job..finally
