That is correct.  He did not last long in that position.  He was kicked out after drawing the series at home against England.  This was the same England WI thrashed earlier on in England.  Mind you that prior to that 73 win, WI did not win in England for years! 

Rohan to me was the start of the rise to WI dominance.  He was a shrewd captain and believed in discipline.  In fact those were the same values that he used to propel Jamaica to the top of the local teams during his stint as coach. 

He gave much of this credit to Sir Frank for helping to mature as a thinking cricketer.  And I don't know if Lloyd has publicly stated this, he learned a lot from Rohan. 

So be it Clive or Rohan, much credit must go to Sir Frank.  Look what he did with his team in Oz....plenty has been written about that...

Windies had one in 63 and 66, both in England, and then England won an away series in67 and at home in 69.

Then Kanhai Captained Windies to victory in England, 3 test series, in 73 2-0 and drew the return 5 tests fixture at home in 73-74.

I do not think Windies had won a home series against England since 47-48.

I misquoted Kanhai's stats. 7 drawn not 4.

I do not think his 13 matches as Captain were continuous.

Given the news of Smith's pending retirement, I thought he captained very well at the start and has been a key part of making the Proteas a winning team sustained for some time now.

Thought in recent times he sat back waiting for something to happen.

The team will miss him.

One of the 'ugliest' batsman to watch but terribly effective, only recently dipping to under 50+
