Neither the English press nor the public, of which I am part, condoned Broad's behaviour so please refrain from making such inaccuracies.

The wider issue raised was the manner in which any batsman of any tribe could stand their ground pending the umpires' decision without any suggestion of breach of the spirit of the game compared to fielders.
