Based on the look of the pitch for yesterday’s opening game when defending champions Windward Islands played Jamaica, the toss for this second match (today) would be a crucial factor and with Guyana having a spin-based attack, since Crandon and Deonarine can lend valuable support to Bishoo and Permaul, it would be best for them to win the toss and have a bowl first.

Porterfield the Ireland opener and captain, said they will be leaning heavily on their Trinidad and Tobago-born coach Phil Simmons.

Being a local guy himself, he is going to plant his knowledge and be a guide to the pitches and everything.

He is going to bring a wealth of knowledge.He has been fantastic for us over the last six to seven years and will be for a few more.
