* Only Chanderpaul and Ramdin had higher averages than Gayle in 2013.

* Care to tell us why Gayle does not belong in the team ?

* The team in NZ only had 2 40/30 points---Shiv and Bravo.

Ramdin or Roach for captain. I'd actually prefer Roach; he seems smarter. Ramdin, of course, has the experience and has captained well in T20 formats.

Rumour is TINO BEST is being considered. Please God, no.

Dwayne Bravo must not be the captain of any WI side. In fact, he should be dropped from all formats, unless he is given a chance to bat somewhere in the first 4 slots. Him coming in as a late-slogger is not worth it when all the junk he bowls negates whatever runs he makes.

Sarwan might be washed up.

Gayle too lazy to captain Test cricket. Maybe shorter formats.

WI should experiement with a communist-style captaincy. Make everyone the captain and give them all the same powers. Might inspire them.

* Sars now feasting on quality sushi.

* Quality sushi has a magical effect on a man----it brings out the productivity in him----in all facets of his life.

* Don't be surprised to see a more focused and determined and productive Sarwan when he returns to cricket.

* And one last thing---only 9 West Indians have scored 5000+ runs in both tests and onedayers----Sarwan is one of those 9.

* But like I said---if Gibson is still coach---forget about Sars.

* Damn! If Gibson had his way Shiv would be umpiring today rather than piling up runs and preparing to overtake 11,953.

I agree with Ramdin as the new skipper and Sarwan as the VC...BUT Sarwans needs some introspection. I wrote a post a while back addressed to Sarwan and how he can get his groove back. Getting married WAS on that list. Sars must have ready that post:)


Sars needs to find peace of mind. He needs to establish better professional relationships with people who can help him - Shiv, Roger Harper and other coaches who can coax the negativity and self-doubt out. I remember the Babulall helping Shiv. Why can't Sars call Rohan or Clive or Kalli and work with them for a while?


Sars head got too big too quick. He needs to "humble" himself a bit and allow others to help him.


Look Sarwan is freakishly talented. He can outbat everybody on that WI team when on song. It's the mental toughness he's lacking. I hope he reads this too.


Look kid, you're effing talented but too distracted...Getting married was a GREAT first step. Reach out to former test players like Rohan, Clive, Kalli, Roger and ask them for help. Try some Yoga. Do what it takes to restore that self-belief and confidence. A man who can score 291 on a tennis-ball bounce Kingston wicket is talented. A man who can score 250 plus and stand up to McGrath and THEN score a gritty ton to chase history should not be discarded by a nincompoop like Otis who was a marginal player at best.




We want to see this kid dominate again. I think, with this marriage, he has already started the journey back.




On a side note - after reading the latest Kalli interview, it seems that some West Indians believe in brawn over brains and hard work...and subconsciously they want the indo-west indian players to fail because they can't fathom a "weaker" person doing better than them in cricket. Shiv doesn't fit their mould of a world beater..same goes for Kalli and Sarwan. It's almost 2014 folks...that kind of caveman mentality is too lame and old.


Let's pick the BEST players please...Let's not throw away a talent such as Sarwan..that would be a tragedy. If a guy like MArlon Samuels with his low test average us a guarantee in the test team - why not Sarwan with his 40 ave?
