that is correct
hubby has had type 2 diabetes for 20 yrs now
(strictly genetic as he has never been overweight and he does not have a sweet tooth. his mom got it very young also).
his blood gets tested (12hr fasting blood test) to keep track of his diabetes (as you get older the pancreas also gets older and quite often produces less and less insulin)
his urine gets tested to make sure his kidneys are functioning well (which thank God they still are)

my hubby does it 4 times a day!
i had to learn how to do it also....just in case.
with the new 'epi pens' it is really no big deal......he doesn't even feel the shots because the needle is so fine and they go just below the skin.
