CARMEL, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a 6-year-old was seen wading with a woman before the little girl was found clinging to her corpse in a New York lake.
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection identified the woman Tuesday as 59-year-old Pamela Kaner of Brewster.
Commissioner Carter Strickland says Carmel, N.Y., authorities notified DEP police Monday about a possible drowning in Lake Gleneida (glehn-EYE'-duh).
Two men and a woman in a row boat found the child and the corpse in the middle of the Putnam County lake around 5 p.m.
The girl was crying for help.
The boaters put a life vest on the child, brought her to shore and called 911.
An autopsy on the woman is planned.
The Journal News says the woman was a friend of the girl's mother.

Adjusted profit $1.38/shr vs Street view $1.19

Aug 7 (Reuters) - Molson Coors Brewing Co reported
quarterly profit that blew past Wall Street estimates on
Tuesday, due in part to the acquisition of the Central European
maker of Staropramen beer, which Molson bought in June.
Wall street estimates did not include results from the
business, formerly known as StarBev and analysts were caught off
guard by declines in profits for the last two quarters.
In explaining the weakness at the unit which operates in the
Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary and other countries, Molson
executives blamed very bad weather in February, the stronger
U.S. dollar which reduced the value of overseas sales, and
up-front investment in new products and marketing ahead of the
peak summer selling season.

When the very first iPhone shipped, literally changing the world as we knew it, it carried a little Trojan horse inside of it called YouTube. The app for Google’s video-sharing site comes standard with every single iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, but all of that ends with the next version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 6, as noted by The Verge and just about every other tech blog.
It’s big news whenever tech titans Apple and Google butt heads, or at least appear to do so, but it’s also a big deal from a music perspective specifically. In the first five versions of Apple iOS, YouTube functioned as a free, unlimited, on-demand music service, sitting right there where any user could use it to call up almost any song, for free, in seconds. Not only that, but Apple’s devices defaulted to uploading mobile-recorded videos to YouTube — something that is also going away in iOS 6.

Firefighters have contained a fire that broke out on the 88th floor of 1 World Trade Center Wednesday morning, fire officials said.
The fire, which may have been sparked by a welding incident, was reported to the FDNY just before 7:45 a.m. It was under control by 8:40 a.m.
No one was inside the building when the fire started.
Officials advised motorists to expect heavy traffic delays and possible street closures in the area.
Last week, a steel beam signed by President Barack Obama was lifted into place at the top of the 104-story skyscraper that's being built to replace the twin towers destroyed in the Sept. 11 attacks.
It's expected to be completed in 2014.
