The ironic thing is that most Sikhs are now fervent and patriotic Indians and the separatist movement of the 80's is seen as an aberration and cause for great embarrassment to the Sikh community.

but not in Toronto and BC. Last summer they laid the Indian flag on the driveway where Indian dign itaries had to drive over to get to a reception

That's right, it's the foreign Sikhs who are 1 -2 generations removed from India and who still believe in the rhetoric of separatists movement because their beloved Uncles told wonderful stories about the glory of the revolution and the glory of killing for the revolution. However, I think the Sikhs in India have largely moved on.

and when the same ppl draw cartoons of anothers religious figure....it is freedom of expression...is this not the same arguement used by muslims, who get shot down for "freedom of expression?"
