Dave , the english language is a logical  language and in the westindies there are many variations.  You most likely would not understand Jamaican patios because you are so isolated in your gated community with your own kind .  I would think that your contact with ordinary  Jamaicans  is minimal.

i can chat nuff patios if you watch the documentary you will see this and i also speak Haitian kreyol fluently i suggest you watch my documentary on Haiti you will see a scene with me interviewing several people in haitian creole. i also speak english and french and no i do not live in a gated community.
it was not an attack at your attempt to use patios it was simply pointing out you do not understand the meaning of words in the english vocab. like bigoted then following bigoted up with a racist comment.
i highly  doubt someone like understands the meaning and has the comprehension to understand the words he speaks and understands the meaning of each word that is all.
again like many times before you misunderstood my comment and jumped to conclusions i hope this clears it up.

well krishna meaningless things rarely are fussed over. i am talking about a subject few people are willing to talk about and bring many feelings and thoughts to the surface.
mind you the harshest critics admit they did not watch the program or at most skimmed through it but the content still interests them and evokes ideas and emotions rooted within them.
you will find them posting comments like (( i dont care)) and (( these less than 1 percent minorities are not important)) but when they are mentioned ever so rarely a wave of hate sepech, thoughts and feelings flow from them. it is simply a interesting topic that i knew would interest some and anger others.

THIS IS MORE RIGHT HANDED NONSENSE..TAKING CREDIT WHERE ONLY APROBATION IS REQUIRED!

black people are in the westindies, in greater numbers than Indos, far greater than chinese, maronites etc.

but blac people came in slavery, Indos and chinese in indenture, some white people too in indenture.  maronites came as hand-maiden of the exploiters, those who created the westindies in their own image and likeness as industrialised sugar factory.

regardless of what Dave says, butressed by the comments of white wesindians and chinese in his doc, generally backward people, totally out of the white/chinese international mainstream...the descendants of chinese indentured who tunred out to be as great expliters of the region as the whites who created the region as we have know it since the fifteenth century...the reality on the ground is as it is, and has been for 500 years......

that fundamentally is the background and basis we are delaing with in the face of Daves sectarian presentation, from the point of view of a prejudiced descendant of those who created the westindies..Dave... even if he is blac

we dont know who/what he is...he may even be Afro...but as such, and of such a mind he wud be an 'english speaker' and a spiritutal descendant of the exploiters.

as I said before his doc shud not be about the ressurection in partisan form of the point of view of minority sections of westindian life, which does nod good for anyone, even the minorities,  as there is only sentiment and blame involved, not whole westindian truth and resolution that may lead to clarity in the people, even intimate a better life for all.

in truth the minority reality shud be presented in the way of exposing the backward mental frame of all involved, the resultant tight social relations, and WHY for b-clart sakes....WHY!!.....how it came to be so and what can be done to facilitate positive change.?

such broad appraoch would solve all concerns by such as I

who must look further than the doc sections presented to get a sense of the personality of the presentation,  of the presenter, where it came from and where it is going... to conclude it is going nowhere anyone with a positive outlook and an investment in the region wants to go.

but with an investment in the region... and by investment I mean being from there so it is home,  relatives, friends, yu know!...  interst in the region and access to the post right here and now, with an ability to speak and write... we can say what we think about the damm project, and the individual as a professional behind it..his work and of that what he has brought here and exposed to us for the very purpose and action we are carrying out..COMMENTING ON IT .

on that very principle daves response shud never be defensive, should never be emotional or anythng damm thing of the sort.

Dave IS THE ONE WHO BROUGHT IT HERE FOR THE VERY PURPOSE OF WHAT IS TAKING PLACE..DISSECTION, COMMENT ETC.  NO FREAKING MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS OF IT THEN, SHUD NOT INDUCE FROM DAVE EMOTIONAL, SILLY, UNEXPECTED AND PREJUSICED RESPONSES.

WAT THE HELL DID HE EXPECT THEN GIVEN THE WESTINDIAN EXPERIENCE OF THE PAST 500 YEARS..AN EXPERIENCE HE NOR I MADE BUT ARE THE PRODUCTS OF... HE RROM ONE END OF THE SOCIAL SPECTRUM ..THE SOCIALLY HIGH END AND ME..AND OTHERS POSTING HERE... FROM THE OPPOSITE END

people can get emotional about this for as I said we are invested.  there are 2 holocausts and genocides involved...that of the original people of the region and an African one.

especially the African holocaust..Dave and posters like SCA and Krishna dont seem to care about..as they disparage opinions like mine, consiging them to the dump.  to dave as he sings the praises of minorioties  and attacks such as I for insisting that there is a lot more in the situation than he mentions, that not using them as causation in the develpment of what he is tryingto describe is simple-minded and dangerous. it is a travesty not think of the blac holocaust, and and indian genocide as leaving its mark on the westindies, of noting the serious consequences of slavery for several centuries that has blac descendants of slaves still 'kilkatay' and emotionally off balanced in the region.

it is as if we are blac and ugly and shud shrug slavery off, even if when slavery was announced over, there was a 5 year apprenticeship,  to give the planters time to solve their expected labour problems, which resulted in the importation of Indos and chinese..followed in a brutal and humanly usurious colonialism in the region...

and now we are well into an equally brutal financial conquest that has made us all into slaves again

in consideration of all, that nothing said here in criticism of daves work is invalid, unusal, shud have been unexpected or anything of the sort. f he did not want and expect that then he shud not have brought his here work for all to deal with it.

it does not reflect well on him at all that his response as a westindian to any part of current westinian reality is as small and chump as this doc starts off.  it is minuscule really, and unimportant, and contributory to little or nothing that is poistive

when westindians of colour have responded to the westindian experience, by their own personal development in it, we get House for Mister Biswas, In the Castle of my Skin, Beyond a bounday, Dereck Walcott, jamaica Kincaid, Wilson Harris and a host of others.

how does of Daves' response compare to these, to the quality of traditonal westindian reponse to the westindian reality and historical experience?  how does Dave want us to consider small potatoes except as small potatoes...although wat I have seen of the doc suggests that it can be used for big propaganda purposes against the westindies by our enemies.

wittingly or otherwise Dave cud be working with our enemies by producing sectarian-minded work that can be used against us.  "look how we treat our minorities!"  that is what comes out as far as I see.

but if dave had approached his subject like it is traditionally westindian to appraoch such, nothing of the kind wud be possible with his work.

we westindians, a brutalised people by 500 years of unfettered exploitation, violence and abuse, torture and mass murder,  indenture etc., are charged with making a better society for ourselves, a united properous, non racial reality, a zone of peace and progress... out of that deliberately chaotic reality made by those who created the westindies, that left Afros in partucular crazy, off balance, yet ubable to right- side up and correct those centuries of abuse..

"how do we do that if our artists and professionals truncate our experience and limit our consciousness of it by presentations of minority perspectives without the big picture as background?"

wat does Dave come to the board for then save  for a gainful  purpose for himself... for notoriety, to highlight his work and spread it around.

it is not as if he has come here out of the goodness of his heart to use his work to foster clarity and help us all along.  I dont think so from all i have seen and read of him.

yet his work does not achieve any positive purpose anyway and he knows it...and so he is here to explpoit us as well.

if coming here did not serve a purpose he found useful for him, he wud not come..as he does no come generally and for any other purpose.

wat do we have here then..another Brendon Nash-type exploitation?

and I use the Nash example because I am certain that Dave is white or chinese westindian. I wud wager good money on that!

hypocrsissy by so many here it isnt funny

what I have been trying to say is that westindian artists and proffessionals from the start have tried manfully to come to grips with westindian reality, the westindian historical experience...its totality, for its parts cannot be understood without relaton to the whole.

deh come up analysis, conclusions, recipes and remedies, solutions that have taken the region far in understanding itself.  this work is far from complete, but limited, shortsighted and narrow project are a waste of time, at best traversing ground already travelled, and at worst propagandistic effort.

which is why I suggested from the start that Dave do a much broader thing, place the experience he is trying to codify into the full spectrum of westindian life.

but in the end the man is free to d as he damm well pleases.  but so am I withing the laws of libel and review.

wat I see in that dc is not nonsense but reharshed stuff that is well-known.  Dave has done nothing with it to pfopduce new insight and expansion of our consciousness on the issue.

I therefore can take or more likely leave it, while noting its potential for negative progandising of the westindies
