the longer I live the greater the persona of Ivan Van Sertima assumes in my mind. and it is the same in academia all around the world..a great human being indeed. just take a look at how great a scholar he was.
the man died at 75...waaaaaay too young. man shud be alive all now. he wud have been in his mid to late eighties. he would have been our father, the solid, unifying west indian figure.
this man makes feel full..like we have arrived at a major point of evolution, of achievement that shows the way to the future.
And this is the the very way I have heard all the scholars who knew him speak of him. with quiet reverence as a very great man indeed

Dr Jan Carew..another great west indian. we don't know about these people but we shud. our children should be walking around with these people as guide in their minds..the work they did shud underpin their education.
our children shud be seeing these people lecture if only by film. to get a sense of them, their personalities, their minds and spirit
these people were magnificent, true soldiers
Dr Jan Carew
